The Blurb

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman’s carefully calculated theories on love into chaos. Olive Smith doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships, but her best friend does, and that’s what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh
that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof.

The Review

Ali Hazelwood’s debut novel is a masterclass in modern romance pacing. The
academic setting feels authentic, lived-in, and appropriately stressful, grounding what could otherwise be a flighty rom-com premise. Olive is a relatable protagonist—
driven yet insecure, brilliant yet blind to the obvious affection right in front of her.

The dynamic between Olive and Adam Carlsen is the undeniable highlight. Adam, the notoriously harsh prodigy, softens only for her, creating a deeply satisfying ‚Grumpy/Sunshine‘ dynamic that eschews toxic tropes in favor of genuine respect and gradual vulnerability.
